General Information 

2026 Rules 

  • ​​The exhibitor listed on the entry must show the calf unless they have another calf in the opposite ring or they have multiple calves in the breed, division or overall drive. Violating this policy will forfeit the points for that kid in the rings that it applies to. In the case of a family emergency, such as the death of an immediate family member (including parents, grandparents, cousins, aunts, or uncles), appropriate documentation must be submitted to Cattlelac Management. This is required to receive an exemption from the show and retain eligibility for points.

  • Adults are allowed to enter the ring and assist the exhibitor in showing their calf if needed.

  • Non-registered heifers or heifers without registration papers will be shown in either the

  • Commercial ABC classes or the Commercial AOB classes. ABC are American Breed Crosses and have characteristics of brahman influence. AOB’s are All Other Breeds and will be any non-registered cattle that don’t show characteristics of Brahman influence.

  • All registered heifers with registration papers will be shown according to the standards set forth by the Fort Worth Stock Show, San Antonio Livestock Show and Houston Livestock Show. Cattlelac has the right to vary from this if they deem necessary.

  • Slick steer breeds must not have hair longer than 1/4" except on the following areas: Poll, ears, tailhead, below the knee and below the hock. The belly must be sheared.

  • The slick breeds will be the first breed in the division shown. If the calf is not clipped according to the rules, we will move it to the appropriate haired breed to show.

  • Show management has the right to classify or re-classify an animal if it is necessary in regards to breed or weight.

  • Bulls 9 months and older must have either a permanent or temporary nose ring while at the show.

  • Bulls will be allowed to show in steer showmanship. However, the bulls will not receive points for showmanship and showmanship will not count towards end of year awards.

  • Only exhibitors ages 21 or younger as of January 1st will be eligible for the scholarship(s), points, and year end awards.

Show management has the right to add or amend any rules any time during the fiscal year.

Show Information

  • You may preregister for each show. This helps us get the show started quicker and allows for a smoother check-in process. If you preregister by noon on the Friday before the show you will receive a free item.

  • Showing the species that show in the afternoon? … You can show up to the show later if you do the following…

  • You may pre-register, upload your registration papers on the Showman.app Website and pay online at showman.app or pay via venmo @Scott-Jones-473 and this will allow you to not have to show up for registration Friday night (4pm-7pm) or Saturday morning (6am-8am). You will just need to get to the show in time to get your calf ready and pick up your back number from the office or from a Cattlelac staff member in the ring. Please have your papers uploaded on the website by Friday night.

  • Once you have shown a heifer with us the Showman.app website will save that heifer in the system and you won't have to show us that heifer's papers for the remainder shows.

  • We will begin our show with the first species showmanship at approximately 8:30 am and the showmanship order will be Senior, Intermediates, Juniors, and then Pee Wee.

  • If heifers are first, the show order will be Heifer showmanship, Bulls, Heifers, Steer showmanship, Steers.

  • If steers are first, the show order will be Steer showmanship, Steers, Heifer Showmanship, Bulls, Heifers.

  • The Cattlelac is an open show so any age exhibitor may show and if you have a young exhibitor the parent may enter the ring with them.

  • Bulls will show by division.

  • Heifers and steers will show by breed.

  • Point changes / corrections must be reported to Cattlelac management no later than Dec 1st on all shows prior to December. Any point discrepancy for shows after Dec 1 must be reported within 2 days after each December show.

  • One head constitutes a breed for the following breeds and there will be 20 steer breeds and 22 heifer breeds.

Showmanship is shown by date of birth as of Jan 1, 2026.

  1. Senior 15 - 18 Years Old  

  2. Intermediate 12 - 14 Years Old

  3. Junior 9 - 11 Years Old

  4. PeeWee  8 Years old and younger

Ultimate Showman:

 

The Ultimate Showmanship is a competition for THE BEST SHOWMAN of the year. All winners from each of the four age divisions from each Cattlelac or Sanctioned Cattlelac shows will compete against each other to see who the Ultimate showman is for the year. The Ultimate Showman competition will be held during our last Super Point Show of the year. We will award an Ultimate Cattlelac Showman for the Steer Division as well as the Heifer division. The winners will receive a Special Designed Ultimate Showman Buckle.

Show Awards 

Ring A Awards:

  • Breed and Reserve Breed Champions receive Banners (For Steers & Heifers)

  • Bulls will receive Division Champion Banners.

Ring B Awards:

  • Breed Champion receive a Buckle (For Steers & Heifers)

  • Reserve Breed Champion receive a Banner (For Steers & Heifers)

  • Champion and Reserve Champion Division Prizes (For Steers & Heifers)

  • Supreme, Reserve Supreme & 3rd Overall receive Big Banners (For Steer & Heifers)

  • Bulls will receive a Buckle for Supreme Champion and Big Banner for Supreme and Reserve Supreme Champion.

Showmanship:

  • Champion Showman in Each Division wins a Buckle

  • Reserve Champion in each division wins a Banner
